Monark and Schwinn are/were 2 different companies. I'll try to help you sort this out...
1) Monarch was a company that produced bikes in the 1890s
2) Monark- also known as Monark Silver King Inc.- made bikes through the 1940s/50s.
3) Schwinn was not associated with either brand
Now, that being said...
1) Womens/girls bikes from any of those makers whether old or not don't bring much money. They are typically cannibalized for the restoration of mens/boys models
2) Depending on the specific model, condition, and originality of YOUR Monark it may be worth a bit of money. I saw a mens Monark at a vintage bicycle auction in rough but original condition sell for $280. There was also a womens model Monark at the same auction in quite good shape sell for $90
So, selling your bike probably won't pay off your mortgage (unless you just owe a couple hundred bucks) but it may get you a nice steak dinner.

schwinn bike?

Richard S
Where do I find the serial number on my new encumbent bike.
Answer
ive got a schwinn mtb, and the serial number was printed underneath the bottom bracket. flip the bike over, and look at the bottom bracket. if its not there, it might also be on a small sticker on the seat tube just under the front derailleur.
btw, that would be a Recumbent bike.
