Has anyone here made a bicycle (road bikes) trip from the Houston Area to Denver, Colorado?

Colin

Some friends and I were thinking about making a road trip next May from Houston to Denver. We would all have hybrid Bianchi's or something of the equivalent. We would leave right after school ends, sometime around the 15th of May and we would allow 2 weeks to get there. We would stop at friends houses on the way and camp out when we get closer to colorado. We would pack very light, and for the nights where we have to campout we would have ENO Doublenest Hammocks that we would sleep in. One of my friends who is coming is a bike mechanic so we would have him to fix any possible problems on the way. We wouldn't be trying to hurry our way there, we were just thinking 100-150 miles a day. What do yall think?

Then he's not a very smart mechanic if he thinks that can be accomplished in just 2 weeks on a hybrid. Minimum - THREE weeks - on a touring road bike. Got a grand or more for one of those?

Good off-road biking trails near Houston TX?

Gabe

So I'm looking for a good place that me and my friends from Boy Scouts can go biking near Houston Texas. Were all 13-14 but have plenty of experience camping. I heard that Enchanted Rock is pretty good, could anyone confirm that please?
Thanks so much for the link! Also, can you camp at any of these?
