Hi,
I'm a six one male with a 35-36 inseam. I'm looking to buy a road bike (a ten speed like I used to have in junior high). My question is: What size bike do I need? I keep seeing 22 inches, 24 inches, 26 inches, and 700cc. I don't know what I need. Do you?

Thanks

Answer
First off Carson you do not buy bikes ever from Wal mart or any other X mart!
Now as for your inseam measurement...you must have Loooonnnnng legs and a short torso as it will be a large bike for you like a 62cm bike frame or better. 22 inches is a frame size on a mtn bike or hybrid, 24" is a wheel size or a XXL frame size for both of those, 26" could be an expensive custom built frame size for either one of those and a 700C is a wheel size for a road bike to clear that up. At 6'1" you should need no less than a 58cm size frame by most standards but you should get fitted at your local bike shop to be certain. 10 speed anything has not been made since the 70s and will only be had USED. Nostalgia would not be worth it to you as the industry is now using 2X9 at a minimum and as many as 3X10 and even that one is going away in a matter of time. This is just my opnion and I might be wrong but I believe that I am on track for you....I am a sales associate in a bike shop and I generally get it right!

What is the size of mongoose detention frame?

Answer
Not to put too much of a point on it- that bike has no frame size.

When bikes are developed for mass market retailers like Walmart (or Sears or Kmart or other places), the frame size basically falls to the factory. In GENERAL, their bikes with 20" wheels have a junior length, 24" wheels have something close to a 14" frame, 26" wheeled hybrid type bikes have approximately 16" frame, 26" hardtail utility bikes (they call them mountain bikes but are NOT) usually measure near 16", and their horrible full suspension models have a top tube length similar to other brames between a small and medium frame.

Of course... you knew that full suspension bikes aren't measured by the bottom bracket to top tube distance since that varies, right?

Don't expect good performance from a bike that costs less than a good dinner at a restaraunt for a family of 4 but you CAN expect it to last just about as long.
