cris
well i have been looking for a bike to ride for about 20miles and i saw a bike at target that caught my attention called: men's schwinn trailway hybrid http://www.target.com/Men%E2%80%99s-Schwinn-700C-Trail-Hybrid/dp/B000KZ1G7Q and i loved the way it looked and the reviews were all good towards the bike. but then a few days later i saw another bike at wallmart called mens schwinn avenue hybrid http://www.walmart.com/ip/Schwinn-Mens-Avenue-Hybrid-Bike/8399247#ProductDetail i noticed that they both look identical, but i wanted to know which is better when riding it? well if there are any better bikes that you can suggest please do. i am willing to spend about $500 or $600

Oh YUCK! Please stay far away from anything a discount or big box store sells. Cheap components & even worse assembly. Please do a little research & I'm trying to help. Both bikes you've listed use a 7 speed freewheel hub. Given enough time, use & abuse the hub will fluctuate & spokes will start popping faster than Orville Redenbacher pops popcorn.
A freewheel simply screws on the hub. A cassette gear cluster slides over splines on a thicker hub & is held in place with a lock ring. See link below & scroll down a bit for photo.
Plus the bikes you've listed use the cheapest possible derailleurs. Did you notice the Schwinn Avenue Hybrid Bike has only 24 spokes per wheel? Most hybrid bikes have 32 to 36 spokes per wheel. So there's another weak spot.
Spend $450 or so on a quality hybrid from a real bike shop with a cassette hub, possibly double walled rims & much better components. Plus a real bike shop has bikes in various frame sizes to fit most anyone from 5' tall to 6' 6" tall. Plus a real bike shop has FREE follow up service - check-ups. Both Raleigh bikes on the last 2 links sold in 2010 for $450. 2011 models may be slightly higher. I have a similar 2008 model & the worst problem I've had is one flat tire. BTW...no car. This bike is my primary form of transport.

Compare Cannondale, Bianchi, Raleigh hybrids?

mbl
I have 3 hybrids in mind (all step-through):
Cannondale Adventure 3
Bianchi Cortina
Raleigh Detour 4.5
I'd like to hear how you compare these three models (for city street riding), and these three makers in general (which has better reputation?)
Thanks :)
Answer
Owning a Raleigh Detour 4.5 (man's version) gets my vote. And seeing my brother has a similar Raleigh now pushing 2,000 miles, I'm sure he'd second that vote.
Double walled rims & an 8 speed cassette hub makes for one strong & long lasting combo.
I even found a 3rd opinion...
