I'm in need of a road bike to get around, it's a lot better than taking the bus. I know it will be expensive. Also, I'm 5 foot 10 and 210lbs in case there are sizes
Answer
Awesome! First off you know you want the bike to commute mainly. I bet you will want to just ride too after you see how much fun it is. expensive is relative. I recommend talking to the guys at performance bikes. If they are not in your area then go to the local bike shop. Don't get talked into a bike over 1,200 bucks, as a matter of fact. 6,7 hundred bucks is plenty to get what you need. Anything over that is for specialized racing and guys that have ego issues. J/k LOL!
the shop will fit you for the bike, even if you don't get one at that shop you know the size your looking for and how it should feel when you ride it. Since you will be commuting, I recommend a good road kit with your bike. In order to fix flats or whatever else. You need durable over anything else.
you can get a bike from say Walmart, but count on taking it to the bike shop to get things worked out. I bought a Schwinn and went directly to my Schwinn dealer (performance bikes). They made sure it was ok. Then I upgraded a few components. I saved 100.00 bucks by doing that. I spent just under 500 all together. I had in mind what I wanted to do, so I recommend that you just buy a bike.

What kind of road bike should i get?

loves his
Hi I used to be a cross country runner but now i want to get into bike riding. I'm a beginner so i don't know much about bikes. I was just wondering what would be a good entry level bike under 500. I am 5'8 and not sure what size bike I should get. Thanks for ur help
Answer
There are no "good" entry level road bikes under $500 unless you get a hybrid or a flat bar road bike.
When you don't know your frame size you really need to get fit for a bike at the bike shop. 10 people could be 5'8" and ride two different frame sizes, have 6 different seat positions, and 4 different stem lengths. Then you get into crank arm length too so go to a bike shop and let "what size bike do I need?" be your very first question. Listen to them. Give yourself time to look at several bikes.
Your best bet for low price road will be GT, Giant, and Fuji. Now go forth and wheel and deal in person at the shop.
