hybrid bikes definition image
Q. i asked it but only one answer
Answer
I would believe you would go faster on a hybrid than a comfort bike. Comfort bikes are generally heavier. They add lots of things like suspension seatposts, fat seats , and really fat soft tires. You may find a comfort bike that is unusually fast or a hybrid that is unusually slow. Since there really is no clear cut definition for either of these types of bikes this is only a general gudieline. The only real way to find out is to ride them.

Any nice/cheap mountain/hybrid bikes? GT,TREK?

JustaDude
Hey guys
i'm a newbie to the cycling world.
I'm looking for a good bike ( performance,speed,endurance,brakes etc)
that doesn't cost me much.
Is GT avalanche any good?Â
Trek?
Mainly for off-road and a little road
Long distance preferred
Answer
The words 'cheap' and 'bicycle' do not go together. If you're going off-road for long periods of time, you need a good mountain bike. I'm talking in the $450 & up range. Define your definition of nice/cheap. Quality of components is more important than brand name. You can't fairly compare a Trek 820 to a Raleigh Talus 5.0. The Trek loses because it's an "entry level" bike and the Raleigh is not. You could compare a Trek 3700 Disc to the Raleigh.
Test ride a whole bunch from local bike shops. Pick out the one that rides the best to you within your price range & buy that one.
