My 13 year old son is and experienced road biker, but he is a little short, being only 57 inches tall (4ft 9in). His bike has become to small for him, and he need a new one. Could anyone recommend a specific road bike that has 24" tires for my son? And if possible, a $300 or less value would be appreciated. Thanks

How much should I cut down a flat bar?

I have a Trek 7.3FX hybrid road bike. It came with a 24" riser bar but I want something more narrow. I ride in heavy traffic and I've come close to clipping side mirrors. I was thinking of buying a flat bar and cutting it down to 18 inches. Is this too short? Will I lose a lot of maneuverability?

Road bars are typically 40-44 cm wide. Shoulder width is a good starting point. Cut a little off and see how you like the feel. You can always cut more, but you cant put it back on.
Don't ride so close to parked cars. Make cars in traffic go around you at a safe distance. In FL they are required to give a cyclist 3 feet of clearance when passing.
Iowa has just passed a law requiring 5 feet clearance, when passing a cyclist.
