I'm really wanting to lose weight. I'm going to only eat up to 1,000 calories a day. I'm only going to allow myself to drink one diet soda a day & the rest is going to be water only. I'm going to walk half a mile a day, ride my bike for 20 minutes a day, & do 50 sit-ups a day.

Uhh, this diet is horrible!
Are you fat, like in general?
Cause if you were serious about weight lose you wouldn't want a 'diet' soda!
And spot reduction as you want to do with the situps is not possible, you have to lose weight throughout your whole body to actually lose fat! Also, bike riding is not much of a workout, instead of wasting your time riding, go jog around your neighborhood, for 20-30mins daily! And, eating 1000 calories is not healthy at all! Your body would think you are starving, and I will hold fat as its source of energy and you will not lose fat at all!
So try eating like 2,000 calories and no 'diet' sodas, no fast food, no fried food, absolutely no junk food. Stick to fruits and vegetables as your main sources of energy, lean meats as your sources of proteins, etc.
With this so called "diet" of yours the most you'll lose is like 5 pounds in a months timespan!
And if you do manage to lose a whole bunch of weight, you will have a lot of stretch marks, because you'll lose a whole bunch of muscle mass, while doing this diet, and you'll end up with lose, flabby skin which is unattractive, and you look extremely ugly! Well, there you go! Hope this helps!

Im trying to lose weight. I want to lose about 20 pounds in one month. I'm going to run or bike ride for 20 minutes every day. Which will help me lose weight faster?

Running in my humble opinion. Also, combine your running with strength training, stretching and proper nutrition. I found this book awhile back titled "The mens health hard body plan". I used their plan and lost 15lbs in the first 5 weeks but also gained 5lbs of muscle mass. Those are pretty good results. I reccomend reading the entire book first and then implementing their plan. I think it helps to have a solid understanding of the science before you start. Good luck.
