My husband and I, (age 50) have 2 days to spend in Denver area and would like some recommendations on how to best use them. We've seen the Rocky Mountain State Park and Estes Park so we've been there, done that already and would like to try something new. We enjoy browsing stores, specialty shops and galleries and would also be open to other suggestions. Not interested in touring breweries or sports stadiums, but perhaps a conservatory or the zoo.
Does anyone have any recommendations about areas to visit, places to stay, things to do in or around Denver?

City park has a great large park with walking, paddle boats, great views of city and pretty fountains. In city park is the nature and science which offers great rotating exhibits. Sunday afternoon/ eve has ice cream socials leading into jazz night. A local favorite.
Cherry creek is an upscale suburb with great shops. Go to cherry cricket for a burger or to cherry creek grill for a more upscale choice. Cherry creek has art galleries and specialty shops on 3rd and 4th street. Great upscale mall as well. Behind parking decks, south of the mall is a cute bike path/ walkway where u can stroll and admire the large upscale condos.
If you have never been to Boulder, go! About 45 NW of the city, a college and hippie town where everyone drives slow, rides bikes, and wears Tevas while drinking organic beer. One of a kind specialty shops on Pearl street for anyone's liking, well those with money. Great places to grab a beer or a meal. The bolder brewery has a great rep. If you want to see the flatirons closer, try hiking Chautauqua park. Gravel minimal effort hikes into hills, maps and info on plaques at trailhead or at visitor center. Bears possible , don't bring food, but they are used to people and should not bother as long as you respect them. That being said sightings are rare.

What cool things are there to see in Denver?

My friend is visiting from New York and we are in Fort Collins. We are going to Denver tomorrow but I am not sure what to show him. So far the 16th street mall and City Park. What else is there to see? Is there some kind of skyscraper we can go on top of to see the city? Also I just moved to Fort Collins from Florida so I am not sure what cool things there are to do in Colorado besides going to Denver. Any other things or tows/cities to visit or things to see?

Denver is a vibrant city with plenty of attractions for visitors, plus a diverse collection of neighborhoods that can be attractions in themselves. Many of Denver's older areas are the perfect density for exploration; you'll find an an interesting mix of apartments and homes with flowery front gardens, wide flagstone sidewalks, bright green lawns and big, shady trees. Capitol Hill, Highlands, Baker, Berkeley, Uptown, Sloan's Lake, Cheesman, Washington, City and Congress Parks are just some of the neighborhoods bustling with people and places to see.
Denver has many beautiful parks that are full of colorful gardens, meandering paths, crystal clear lakes, abundant wildlife and recreation opportunities. The city has a rich pioneer history, and there are plenty of museums where you can learn all about it. It's also a very environmentally conscious city, with one of the nationâs first municipal âGreen Fleetsâ, public transit vehicles using hybrid and alternative fuel and a city tree-planting initiative. Hop on a green bus, grab a bike or just walk around to discover Denver.
Late spring and early autumn are excellent seasons to do things outdoors in Denver. Besides the city's various lush green parks, there are plenty of outdoor festivals, sports, and gondola rides. (Yes, gondola rides.) In winter, the snow-peaked mountains in the distance and the crisp air on your cheeks make it the perfect time to tour Denver's famous breweries or check out the downtown arts scene.
