Bike season is rolling around and my husband is going to start riding again, but we are TTC. If he rides while I am on my period but stops riding a few days before I start ovulating will his sperm be okay? How long does it take for his sperm to recover from the bike riding? I know it is easy to say that it is better to be safe than sorry and just tell him not to ride at all, but I don't want to do that unless I absolutely have to. Also just some more info, he doesn't ride everyday or anything, and not for terribly long distances. Thanks for your help!

It takes approx. 45-60 days for sperm to develop and mature so stopping riding a few days before ovulation will do no good. If his counts are normal then riding a few days a week probably won't make much difference but if his counts are borderline or low then riding isn't a good idea.

My husband has a low sperm count and only 48% motility. We are ttc a second child. Does anyone know ways to increase sperm count?

He needs to see a urologist if he isn't already. My husband had to have an ultrasound and xray I believe to check for hernias and blockages. He also had bloodwork which showed low testosterone. He was then put on Clomid (yes the same thing women take to ovulate) 50mg every other day. After 3 months, his count improved from 20 million to 80 million and his testosterone was within normal levels. The doctor warned us it may not work, but for him it did.
Any treatment will take about 3 months to work because of the way sperm is produced. The sperm he has today was created three months ago. There are also supplements that may help. I don't remember them all, but there is lots of info online. I know my hubby was on Vitamin C, folic acid, fish oil, and a multivitamin.
He was also told no laptops on his lap due to heat. And he was told to wear boxers, not ride bikes, limit caffeine and soy products.
