Where can a 10-year-old drive a rented ATV in the Las Vegas / Zion / Grand Canyon area?

We're visiting Las Vegas, Zion, maybe Bryce, and the north rim of the Grand Canyon for a week around Labor Day. My 10-year-old son loves ATVs but the only time he ever got to ride one was in Mexico. Most places in the U.S. are strict and rent to adults only. I've heard by law anyone 8 years or older can ride with a parent's supervision. Is there anywhere in the region that will rent an kids-size ATV (maybe 90ccs or so) for 2-3 hour excursions? Preferably right at trailheads because otherwise I doubt we'll have room to transport it (renting a car). Inquiries from private parties are welcome, you can email me.

Inside National Parks, you are out of luck. Most areas are restricted to horses, and bikes as well, and severely limit where humans can travel for obvious reasons. In the Grand Canyon there are very few places you can even take your dog on a leash, but that is why it is the incredibly beautiful pristine place it is so I don't mind.

I think adult supervision means "on the ATV with a licenses driver with adequate safety equipment" when it comes to rentals. I cant imagine their insurance would be ok with renting to unlicensed drivers. You might find some rentals in nearby towns and forest service roads outside of the park you can ride on.

I would suggest other new experiences that are allowed in those areas. One of my best early childhood memories was camping at the North Rim (I can still remember what we ate) and stopping and renting horses the following day. My pony outran my big brothers horses. I was 6. I will never forget it.

We are planning in getting married in las vegas and adventure in reno, hiking, mountain biking and outdoor activities, around/in lake tahoe.Any suggestions? and, is it possible to drive between las vegas and lake tahoe? distance? Thank you!

Answer
Yup
Three possible routings Enter these into mapquest or whatever you're using > and yes I have driven all of them
1)Fast and ugly >LAS >Tonapah NV >Fallon NV>RNO
2)Slower and more scenic
LAS >Hurricane UT [Virgin River Gorge en route and Hurricane is 15 minutes from Zion NP ]>Panaca NV >Rachel NV & Area 51>Tonapah NV >Fallon NV>RNO
3)Flat-out awsome but start this one early
LAS >PahrumpNV>Shoshone CA>Badwater CA>Stovepipe Wells CA >Lone Pine CA, Lee Vining CA >S.Lake Tahoe CA.This routintg takes you straight up Death Valley NP and the gains altitude and follows the spine of the Sierra . A cool side trips the one from Lee Vining over Tioga Pass and into Yosemite Valley
One safety note: While these roads can be awesome to drive they can also be dangerous as hell to drive due to the fact that they pass thru some of the remote areas of the US where the nearest hospital can be over 100 miles away and where cell phone coverage is iffy at best. The biggest single cause for highway fatalities on these roads is people misjudging the speed of and distance of the oncoming vehicle during high speed passing moves. Have a great time But be really careful when you are passing somebody or when an oncoming vehicle is passing somebody
Have fun
