Is there a good second hand flat bar road bike for less than $600?

I need a flat bar road bike for under $600 and I was thinking that a second hand one (in good condition) might be a better option because then I could get a better bike for the same price as a brand new one...help!!!

I would think it is a definite yes. As used bikes are priced around 2/3 to 1/2 of the original price $600 would buy a decent flat bar road bike (or hybrid)
You can buy a pretty decent flat bar road bike new for $600. Professional Schwinn (from a bike shop not a Sporting Goods store) has the Super Sport for under $600, Trek as a couple under $600 just to name 2 that I have seen this week. There are many other manufacturers. I have seen higher end bikes like you are seeking go for $900 to $1200 new, and used should be around your range.
Now if you are asking here to find one to buy, this is the wrong place. Try craigslist.org for a [but one of several] site to find used bikes.
