After a bit of research, I think a hybrid bike would work best for me. I am fairly short and to store it, would have to carry it up a few stairs, so I want something that's lightweight. I would be riding it for leisure as well as quick trips to the grocery or to get to a friend's house. Unfortunately I am finding that many options or recommended bikes are well out of my price range. I am really looking to keep the cost under $200 but could go up as high as $300. Of course prices would vary a bit depending on where it's bought or ordered, but any specific model names would be appreciated (not just brands). I do have an Amazon Prime account, so I wouldn't mind ordering online from them.

Under $300? Used. Look for the same brand names you'd find in a bike shop...Raleigh, Giant, Trek, Fuji, Diamondback, etc.
Lowest priced bike I can truly recommend from Amazon.com would be a Diamondback Edgewood or Kalamar. The Edgewood has more gears & would have better hill climbing power & more top end speed. But remember...YOU have to assemble the bike. And from what I've read & heard about Diamondback's warranty - unless the bike is assembled & tuned-up by an authorized Raleigh and/or Diamondback dealer - there is NO warranty. So by the time you toss in an additional $50 to $75 at a dealer - you didn't save a dime.
Make sure you know what size to get!!!

Cheap, durable, lightweight bike?

Can anyone recommend me a good MTB bike which is light, durable, and cheap $100 or less. The reason is for loosing some weight, doing some wheelies and being able to easily store it on the basement.
I had a 5th metacarpal injury about7 months ago and I feel like if I'm ready to at least ride a bike , plus I want to lose some weight.
Thanks.
Answer
Cheap, durable, lightweight and do wheelies? All for $100 or less? Keep dreaming. I spent almost $100 fixing up an abandoned 2005 Fuji road bike. And that was basically tires, tubes & rim tape, plus my own labor to clean & re-lube everything.
Besides, mountain bikes aren't lightweight. They're a lot heavier than most performance hybrids & road bikes. They were never meant to be lightweight. They're made to go off road.
