Buying a new road bike, which one should I get?

I am through suffering with my 2010 entry-level road bike and I have set aside $1000 to upgrade.

I am selling my 2010 this weekend for $300, so I have $1300 to work with.


My 2 options right now:
2013 Trek Domane 2.0 for $1299, MSRP is $1400+
2013 Jamis Icon Pro for $1299, MSRP is $1600+


I cannot and will not go over $1300 so do not recommend anything over that. Any other suggestions in my price range is appreciated!

Those are race-oriented geometry bikes are you going to race or do you want it for exercise.

In one year id like to bike the mississippi river, im a daily commuter, but lack knowledge on performance/distance cycling.
70 and 80 mile days.
So far im looking at cannondale synapses and scott speedsters.
A cheap deal is nearly my biggest priority, so hopefully something used or old make.


Any styles, bike names, or even forum suggestions will help me.
