Claud Butler criterium road bike.
Apparently my size is "58" im six ft is this correct?

Answer
14 speed is a dead give-away for a cheap "freewheel hub" - rear hub. Better bikes will use a stronger rear hub & an 8 speed "cassette" or better. (2 X 8 = 16 speed or more) They will also have Shimano STI shifters or equivalent from SRAM or SunRace. Topping it off will be double wall rims.

All (and I do mean ALL) good road bikes from real bicycle shops have these components. Cheap discount store bikes do not.

A 58cm frame size will be in the ballpark. But no one can say for sure over the Internet. Depending on leg length & torso length you could take anywhere from a 56cm to a 60cm frame size. TRY B4 you BUY is the true test of whether or not the bike is a good fit for you. Can't test ride 'em from discount stores. You can from a real bicycle shop. Hmm...I wonder why? (he said sarcastically).

what size road bike is recommeded for me?

I am an beginner cyclist and I have been riding around town on my mountain bike, I want to upgrade to a road bike but I dont know what size I should get and I am 5'8" Thanks if you can help!

Answer
Bike frame sizing is not universal. Frame sizes you need can change not only from manufacturer to manufacturer, but also from model to model within the same company. I am 5'10" and 2 of my road bikes are 54cm and 56cm. They came from the same company. They both fit me. I have a time trial bike from that same company and it is a size small. That's 3 different frame sizes from the same company. Go to a bike shop and have a proper fitting
