We are from Ohio so we don't want to go anywhere too far away. We don't want to go to Gatlinburg because we've been there. We want somewhere West of Ohio.

well i was going to tell you to go down to townsend in tennessee, near gatlinburg, but you've been there it says! if you ever go back, make sure to go to cades cove! it's BEAUTIFUL! and you can ride your bike on the bike trail!

Family vacation in the smokey mountains?

My husband and I are planning our first vacation together. We have decided to go to the smokey mountains and we don't want to do a lot of hiking because we have a four year old and a 1 year old. Where would be a good place for us to go? What could we do? We don't want to go to Gatlinburg, so that is the only place out of question. The foot hills would be good too.

My two favorite places in the Smokies are Cherokee NC and Townsend TN. I hate Gatlinburg, too touristy. Even with little ones, you can still hike the short trails. I love to go into Cades Cove for the day and explore the old churches and farms. Take a picnic too. There are bike trails up and down Townsend, hayrides in the park, horseback riding, and lots of things to do.
