Ok I live in Nebraska My husband has 4 days off in a row we want to take the kids to do something like the zoo but it's going to rain soo we were thinking the Children's Museums in lincoln or Omaha. But we are sure that our 2 year old will enjoy it so what could we do in eastern neb. that a 2 year old woul enjoy. we r willing to travel 3 hrs we live in norfolk zip code is 68701

Fun things for a 2-year-old...let's see...eating, sleeping, and a little rambunctiousness...definitely not a long car ride to Omaha.

I live in Walthill, NE and was looking around today for some ideas for fun things to do in eastern Nebraska myself. I have a 10-month-old puppy, and will be taking him with me...he's kind of like a 2-year-old at times.
There's a nice little apple orchard on Rt. 75 just south of Ft. Calhoun, between Ft. Calhoun and Omaha; they sell home-grown apples, carmel and candy apples, homemade pies, fall vegetables, and when it's cider-making time they have some wonderful apple cider. Kids love to visit places like that. It's out in the country, fall's in the air, fresh air & exercise. Just about right for a nice little trip. Was thinking of going there today to see if cider's ready yet.
South Sioux City has a nice park called Scenic Park, along the Missouri River, adjacent to the bridge that connects South Sioux with Sioux City. There's a bike path that goes for several miles south along the river from the park. Also in Sioux City, off of Hamilton Blvd. (south) there's a Lewis & Clark keelboat display, again, within sight of the bridge, and also a bike path connects from there several miles west. If you have bikes with a baby seat on the back, that might be an idea. My kids used to love to take bike rides with us.
If the weather's good for walking (the weather seems to be changing today about every five minutes) or even if it's not, a trip to Ponca State Park might be good...take a picnic lunch...and either drive around the park or take a hike or two. You might even see an eagle! I did -- pretty up-close, too -- when I went up there around Thanksgiving. Also saw lots of deer down by the Missouri.
A little fresh air on a day like today, maybe a tousle in a McDonald's Playland, a bike hike or a walk in the park, and the little one should be ready for naptime in no time!
