I don't bike that much but I want to start biking more. I was thinking a hybrid bike would be the best for where I live: an area with small hills. I am a teenager and I want a bike that will last a long time.

Google " bike shops + your zip " that will get you a map with all of the local bike shops. They can help you select the ride bike in the right size. Stay far away from Walmart and other department store bikes. I bought a Forge M Street bike and it's a nice bike for the money. It's geared a little lower then most hybrids and will climb anything.

Walmart Schwinn bikes?

Isaiah
I found a nice hybrid bike at a local Walmart. I tested it and loved it. It may be from Walmart but it's still a Schwinn and it fits me in size. Would this be a decent bike? Keep in mind, it may be a cheaper quality Schwinn than the ones at bike shops but it's still a Schwinn. Are Walmart Schwinns any better than Walmarts other bike brands??? What do you think about this bike? I can't afford anything more.
I only need a temporary bike for a year or two.

The Schwinn of yesteryear is history. The last American made bike came out of Chicago in 1981. Since then Schwinn has been passed form one owner to another and last I checked Pacific now owns them. I have a 2007 Peloton Pro which is a top end carbon fiber road bike. That bike has been discontinued. Pacific decided to go with a two company approach with Schwinn. One is the Bike shop, higher end bikes and the other is the low end department store bikes. What you buy at Walmart is not the same as what you would find at a local Schwinn dealer. This has to be frustrating for the local dealer since a Schwinn is a Schwinn right? I sold my Trek 930 mountain bike (set up as a hybrid for commuting) to a coworker for $100.00. The bike had been updated with V-brakes, rapid fire shifters, plastic fenders (Great Northwest), narrow tires, and an aftermarket gel seat. The reason I bring this up is that he got a $400.00 bike for $100.00. And that two year old Peloton Pro cost me $1200.00. It retails for $2500.00. What I am saying is look into the used bike market. And don't get too much bike. That's a more costly mistake than under spending. Good luck and check out the classifieds.
