i dont really know much about bikes, but spring is coming back here in chicago and i really want to get a road bike soon (preferably single-speed). ive been looking on craigslist for used bikes, because my budget is only like $300. Anyways these are some of the bikes i found. I was wondering if any of these are good deals. if so which ones? and if not what are some good prices to offer?

Answer
They all look nice. The most important thing is getting the right size. Stand with your back against the wall with a book up against your crotch. Measure fron the top of the book to the floor. Take that measurement X .65 and that is the size frame your should be looking for. You also want a 1-2 inch clearance when standing over the bike. Bikes are measured in cm so take your measurement in inchs X 2.54 to convert to cm.

is this a good road bike?

Answer
that;s not a bad price
though $50 would be a lot better :)
100 is about the top

but - only if it fits
neither you nor the seller seems to realize that fit is important

you would need to be 5-5 to about maybe 5-8 for it to work - rough guess

this isn;t single speed but i think that;s a bad idea for your only bike to be single speed, particularly if you aren;t really that conversant with the implications of single speed

wle.
