me and a couple of mates were arguing about whether it is illegal to cycle down the pub and have a few pints (actually more than a few) and then cycle home again on public roads.
Oh and im talking about in the UK, i don't want to be filled in on the complexities of american law

Is it illegal to ride a bike drunk in the state of California?
I'm just curious because I usually get two different answers. Some people say it's legal, but some people say it isn't.

Bicycling while drunk is illegal in California, but it is a far less serious crime than driving a car while drunk. Bicycling while drunk is a simple infraction (as opposed to a misdemeanor), $250 maximum fine, no jail. See Vehicle Code 21200.5
