I agree EBay has bike shops and new bikes at good deals. And one good on-line store (of many) is http://bikesdirect.com/

I want to buy a cheap road bike to bike around every other day with friends maybe max miles on a day 30? Bikes at bikes shop are kind of expensive. Should I try bikesdirect their road bikes are for entry level are about 300$ and I was looking at the gravity avenue road bike.

Do you know how to figure out what frame size to buy? Are you able to assemble, adjust, and fit a bike?. Are you able to do maintenance and repairs? If the answer to all these questions is yes, Bikes Direct could be for you. However if you are not able to take care of all these things yourself you may have to pay for these services thus negating all those savings. Local shops also take care of warranty issues on the spot. Online can be tedious and slow. The more you plan to ride, the better the bike you need. Cheaper bikes will require more frequent repairs and replacement of worn components. If you ride a lot, a more expensive bike can end up costing much less over time. If you really put things in perspective, good bikes are much cheaper today than they were 40 years ago when I bought my first road bike. My first bike cost the equivalent of over $1000 today and wasn't half as good as a $1000 bike you would buy today, even in an "expensive" bike shop
