Question on road bikes?

Q. I am about to buy my first road bike and I have decided to go for one of 2 bikes and they are either a felt f85(blue) or a trek 1.2(red&white) both 2012 models. The pros for the trek is that it is cheaper but i prefer the look of the felt. i am looking for a bit of technical advice to sway me. Is the extra 150 euro worth it for the felt.

Answer
I'd go for the Felt F85. Felt are a very supported, quality brand for road bikes (Trek are too,) but I think you should spend the extra 150 for the Felt. You think it looks better and that will mean you will be more happier with that bike all round. Make sure you get a good bike lock for your bike.

If you haven't already check out this website here to compare the Felt:

and this website to compare the Trek:

http://www.trekbikes.com/au/en/bikes/road/sport/2_and_1_series/1_2_h2_compact/#/au/en/model/details?url=au/en/bikes/road/sport/2_and_1_series/1_2_h2_compact

There's not a huge difference between both bikes, except I think the Felt is the way to go.

"I also would like any suggestions to where i could ride with not so much traffic and definitely not highways and major roads."

Bicycles are not permitted on Interstate Highways & other 'limited access' roads. But if you're going to be afraid of a road with a 30 to 35 mph speed limit - stay at home!

$500 or under? One of two things... A) Up your price range to at least $700. B) Try looking on Bikes Direct. Look at the sizing charts for each individual bike as frame sizing is not universal from one company to the next. You assemble the bike & there is NO free follow up service as with a local bike shop. Start at least in the $399 & up price range. Anything less is a waste of time & $$$. I like the looks of the 2012 Motobecane Record for 549.95. 2nd link.
